Y3AH

Welcome to Year 3 – Y3AH

The children have had a fantastic first term in Y3. They have gained a breadth of knowledge by exploring the question “How do we survive and thrive?”

Our outcome is to make a nutritious soup and cookbook for Sheffield Arches project/ local homeless shelter!

During this term, we will be learning about early humans. Through our writing, art and scientific enquiries. The children are already off to a stellar start by researching how early humans in the Stone Age, lived, ate and wore.

Find out more by looking at our learning journey.

By the end of the topic, we hope to make a nutritious soup and cookbook for Sheffield Arches project/ local homeless shelter!

In maths, the children have been focussing on place value and understanding how different numbers affect each other we have been using different apparatus to help us understand how to use place value practically. We are now applying more abstract methods of understanding by using our mathematical reasoning skills.

In literacy, we are working on an informal letter to our parents based on the book we are studying, the Stone Age boy. We have been using our reading skills to link to the text and improve our writing and show our understanding.

In regards to our timetable, we have PE on Wednesday mornings, so please remember to bring your PE kit. We have shared the timetable with parents and children, so any queries please get in touch.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything, please do not hesitate to see me before or after school. If this is not possible you can also ring the school office.
