World Book Day 2019 saw some of the most amazing costumes, outfits and wonderfully imaginative story characters being brought to life.

Our day started off with a wonderfully arranged assembly by our Reading Lead, Mrs Keown, who gave a quiz and set out the events of the day. We were introduced to the theme of the day and the 4 activities which we would have to carry out throughout the day and sent back to our classes.

Each class in school had to complete the following activities:

  • Bunting made using food from books (the winning bunting is displayed in the school canteen)
  • A display board book quote
  • A book in a jar
  • Buddy read across school with children from 2 different year groups paired up together.

Each class created some wonderful work on the day which is now displayed proudly in the large hall.

Mrs Keown said, ‘It was such a great day and the atmosphere in classrooms was just lovely!! The work produced for each of the challenges has been incredible too – everyone put in so much energy and effort into it.’
