Welcome to Foundation Stage 2 – F2AK
Our staff for 2018/19 are:
Mrs Khatoon with teaching assistant Mrs Ritchie
Mrs Marlow will work across both classes
As the first year of school is really important we feel the children have settled well into the routine of Foundation 2. They are making positive choice and showing they are ready to learn. Children arrive at 8:30 and are trying hard to write their name! We are ready for the register at 8:45 when we hear the morning song play. We sit on the carpet for Literacy or Maths Learning straight after register at 9:00. We are going to be learning the story ‘Gingerbread man’ in our Literacy learning for the next couple of weeks and focusing on our counting skills in Maths. We choose and apply our learning in the classroom from 9:30. This is where we can show what we have learnt as well as develop important teamwork and sharing skills. At 11:00 we develop our reading comprehension and inference skills through a shared read as well as practice reading our spellings. Children are really settled at lunchtimes and are showing confidence in trying new things. In the afternoon we are starting to learn new letter sounds each week within our phonics learning. Children are practicing forming and saying these sounds. You can support this at home through encouraging your child to use a pencil to form letters correctly.
It is lovely to see so many children bringing their PE kits and orange folders to school everyday! Do remember to change your child’s book every morning so you can practice reading and spelling at home.
